What the Cycle Actually Looks Like
Wuthering Waves is usually described as having a "roughly six-week" patch cycle. The record is more precise than that — and more interesting.
From 2.5 through 3.3, the gap was exactly 42 days, five times in a row. Not approximately six weeks: exactly six weeks, five consecutive cycles. That's an unusually disciplined release train, and it's why predicting Kuro's dates was reliable for most of a year.
Then it broke. Version 3.4 arrived at 39 days, and 3.5 at just 32 days — the shortest gap on record. The cause was structural rather than a schedule change: 3.4 was the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners collaboration, a compressed patch, and the shortened window cascaded into 3.5 landing early too. With 3.6 estimated around August 20, the gap returns to roughly 41 days — essentially back to normal.
The practical takeaway: add 42 days to the last release for a solid first estimate, but treat any collaboration or anniversary patch as a signal that the next one or two cycles may compress. The exact date is only ever confirmed at the Preview Special Broadcast, which airs one to two weeks before launch.
Maintenance Length Over Time
Downtime has been almost as consistent as the cadence. The 2.x versions ran 6-hour windows; from 3.0 onward the standard became 7 hours (04:00 → roughly 11:00 UTC+8), which has held for every major version since.
The exception worth knowing: Version 3.4 finished in about 4 hours, well ahead of its scheduled window. Kuro doesn't extend maintenance often, but they do finish early fairly regularly — so the scheduled end time is best treated as a worst case rather than a target. Live status and countdown for the current cycle are on the maintenance page.
Version-by-Version
Version 3.5 — Blade of Past Resounds, Lingering Dream Hymns
Opened the Mengzhou region and the city of Xuanfang Hold, marking Rover's return to Huanglong. Headlined by Yangyang: Xuanling, the first-ever SP character — a 5-star Havoc Sword rework of the original 4-star Aero Yangyang — with her sister Suisui (Glacio Rectifier) in Phase 2. Also added the Electro Rover and brought the game to Xbox and Game Pass, its first release beyond PC and mobile.
Version 3.4 — The Dream Not Dreamed
The game's first major cross-IP collaboration, with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Lucy and Rebecca joined the roster, with Rebecca given away free through an in-game event — an unusual move for a limited 5-star. Lucilla debuted June 13 and Cartethyia rerun from June 18. As collaboration characters, Lucy and Rebecca are unlikely to rerun.
Version 3.3 — 2nd Anniversary
The game's second anniversary patch, featuring Hiyuki and Denia. Anniversary versions typically carry the year's heaviest reward load — login campaigns, free pulls, and commemorative events — which is reflected in the livestream code set.
Version 3.2 — Resolution to Illuminate the Shadows
The last patch of the perfectly regular 42-day run before the collaboration cycle disrupted the schedule. Standard 7-hour maintenance and the usual three-code livestream drop.
Version 3.1 — For You Who Walk in Snow
The first follow-up to the 3.0 region launch, continuing the Lahai-Roi arc. Notable for having the longest code redemption window of the recent set — roughly three days rather than the usual two.
Version 3.0 — Lahai-Roi Awakens
The 3.x era opener and the launch of the Lahai-Roi region. This is also the version where maintenance moved from the 2.x standard of 6 hours to the 7-hour window that has been standard ever since, and where the ~300 Astrite compensation pattern settled into place.
Version 2.6 — When the Night Knight Falls
The final 2.x major version, closing out that arc ahead of the 3.0 region launch. Ran on the shorter 6-hour maintenance window typical of the 2.x era.
Version 2.5 — Trace Within the Wake
The earliest version in this record, and the start of the five-cycle run of exact 42-day gaps.
Livestream Codes by Version
Kuro drops three redemption codes at each Preview Special Broadcast, worth roughly 300 Astrites combined plus upgrade materials. They expire fast — usually within about 48 hours — so they're worth catching on the day.
